Initiatives that have assisted all girls at Oloolaimutia School:

Annual provision of sanitary napkins

  • Girls from families that cannot afford the cost miss school regularly when they begin menstruating. Frequent absences often lead to girls leaving school permanently.

Bed nets

  • Prevent infection from malaria-carrying mosquitos.

Mattresses for boarding

  • A safe place to sleep

Construction of a toilet with a door for girls at the school 

  • Providing privacy and discretion.

Construction of a toilet structure for kindergarten students 

  • Previously toileted outdoors.

Initiatives that have assisted identified girls in need at the Oloolaimutia School:

Boarding fees

  • Students can begin boarding at Oloolaimutia in later grades. This provides safety for girls and ensures they will be at school every day.

Uniforms

  • Students may be sent home from school if their uniforms are not in satisfactory condition.

Initiatives that have assisted identified girls in need who have completed grade eight:

High school education costs 

  • School fees, boarding, personal hygiene needs, books, health care, and transportation to schools several hours away.

Initiatives for girls who have completed high school:

Post-secondary education costs 

Tuition, books, accommodation, food, cooking gas, personal hygiene needs, and transportation to home community.
