Our history–Fundy Peace Foundation to Friends of Kilayo
Fundy Peace Foundation (FPF) is a small New Brunswick based registered charity with several projects in Africa. On a visit to the Oloolaimutia School in the Masai Mara region of Kenya in 2012, FPF learned that to go on to high school, children need to rank highly on a national exam. They also learned that even though children from this school show the ability to do so, many cannot because their families cannot afford the annual high school fees. FPF set up a scholarship fund to sponsor several students who would otherwise be unable to further their education. Officials at the Oloolaimutia School also identified their desire to see more girls complete elementary school and become eligible to go on to high school.
From 2012 to 2022, the Masai Mara Project operated under the auspices of FPF, and sponsored initiatives to help keep girls from leaving school. During that time, over a dozen girls have had the opportunity to stay in school and work towards a brighter, more prosperous future.
Friends of Kilayo was established to enhance the ongoing work and empower more women and girls of the Masai Mara, through a greater online presence and ease of donation.
